Santo Wines

SantoWines were created in 1992 simultaneously with the construction of the modern winery, the Wine Tourism Center, the multiplex site of the winery dedicated to wine, local farm produce, gastronomy and the culture of Santorini island.

With stunning views of the Caldera from edge to edge and the volcano in the background, annually over 400,000 visitors from around the world enjoy a complete wine and gastronomic experience that includes a tour of SantoWines winery, a visit to the cellars, viewing of a documentary about the vineyard, the winemaking tradition and Santorini wine, wine tasting and traditional flavors of the island.In specially designed separate areas we also host wedding ceremonies, receptions and special events.

Wine Musem Koutsoyiannopoulos

Being the only one of its kind in Greece, the Wine Museum occupies a natural cave. It is eight meters below ground, 300 meters long and has a labyrinth-like shape. The Wine Museum presents the history of wine and the life of vine-growers on Santorini from 1660 to 1970. An automatic audio guide is available in fourteen languages.

The stages of the winemaking process and the whole range of machinery are presented in chronological order. The visitors can experience the stages of pruning and ploughing of the vineyards, harvesting, stomping and weighing of the grapes. The rare exhibits, including winemaking machinery and tools, will take the visitors back in time to another era.

Venetsanos Winery

Venetsanos winery is located right above the port of Athinios, overlooking the magnificent caldera of Santorini. The Venetsanos family have a very long tradition in producing wine. Originally it was produced for the island and subsequently it was exported extensively particularly to countries such as Russia. It was built in 1947 by the Venetsanos family and became the first industrial winery on the island. The winery was built in an unconventional manner constructed from above and moving downwards.

The winery today offers you the chance to walk through its premises and discover the history and tradition as well as the new wine making techniques. You will be able to take a detailed tour of the winery from their expert staff while also tasting some of their exceptional wines.
